NEW YORK CITY
Henry Hudson Parkway to Sawmill River Parkway, or 287E (Choose your best way north.) to 684N;
go 16 miles on Route 684N to Route 22N; (toward Brewster / Pawling);
(FYI it's 35 miles from Amenia Center to Ski Butternut using the directions as outlined below.)
In Amenia, at traffic light go right on Route 343;
Go 5 miles to Sharon CT (clocktower);
Go left on route 41N at stop sign for 7 miles until road divides;
Go left on 41N at the White Hart Inn for 9.2 miles.
On 41N take a right on Berkshire School Road (Large green road sign just before turn says Mt Everett School);
Go 3 miles to center of Sheffield, MA;
Turn left at stop sign and police station onto Route 7N
8 miles on Rte 7 takes you into Great Barrington,
Stay on Route 7 through town and across the brown bridge;
Veer right at light just past the Sunoco Station onto Route 23 East;
Ski Butternut is less than 2 miles on right!!!
**(Rte 41 is flat with no curves - We consider this the best way...gas stations, restrooms, food, lodging, flat newly surfaced roads, scenic vistas and stately homes along the CT stretch ... fewer deer and a number of our lodging properties.)
From the White Hart Inn - You could take Rte 44 to Canaan but the road is curvy and hilly and just about the same distance. |
