Ski Butternut is seeking a Lift Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for maintenance and repairs to mechanical and low voltage control systems on aerial and conveyor lifts. This is a full-time year-round position and includes benefits such as health insurance, and paid vacation.

Please note we are willing to accept all applications from individuals with strong mechanical backgrounds. We are willing to train a candidate on the intricacies of chairlift operations, assuming they have a strong mechanical aptitude and are motivated to learn the job quickly.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • A strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Tramway experience preferred but not required with either chair lifts, J bars, T bars, rope tows, and/or movable conveyor belts.
  • Familiarity with multiple operating disciplines including knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and structural components.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in all conditions for extended periods of time and must be comfortable working on towers/elevated equipment.
  • Must understand emergency procedures and respond to incidents in a professional manner.

Ski Butternut is seeking Sales Associate/Cashier in our Ski and Board Shop for the Fall and Winter Season.


PURPOSE OF POSITION

A Ski and Board Shop Sales Associate/Cashier is responsible for assisting customers throughout the store, processing transactions at the register, and maintaining the shop inventory.


SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- A friendly demeanor and strong communication skills are required. The Sales Associate will have extensive interactions on with our guests, so it is very important that applicants is a strong communicator. 
-Basic math skills are required for the accurate and efficient processing of payments at the register. Previous cash handling experience is helpful.
-Prior knowledge of ski and snowboard equipment is desired but not required. Applicant must be willing to learn about and continually advance their knowledge of all the products offered in the Shop.
-It is required that applicant will report for shifts in a timely fashion, in proper uniform and be neatly groomed for the start of their shift.
-Must be honest and reliable.
 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Customer assistance: candidly and resourcefully assist customers through the sales process. Must be able to handle questions and objections with creativity and practicality.
-Inventory management: restocking, organizing, folding, tagging, staging, counting and maintenance of all shop items.
-Cash register management: Must accurately check-out all items, take payment and give proper change. Must maintain a balanced register and efficiently handle all transactions.

The Reservations department at Ski Butternut is expanding!  We are seeking a few friendly individuals to join our Reservations team, taking phone calls and booking lessons and other products using our point-of-sale system.  Full time, part-time, morning and evening hours available.

The ideal candidates will be punctual, organized, able to multi-task, and be comfortable talking on the phone for the majority of their day.  Basic computer skills required.   Previous experience using the Siriusware point-of-sale system ideal but not required.

This position will oversee the Mechanic Shop which is responsible for the routine maintenance and repair of small engines, vehicles, and heavy equipment. Ski Butternut is always looking for the best staff to work on the front lines of our Main Office! 

  • In this position you will assist in distributing Season Passes to our guests.
  • You will also answer questions regarding any items we offer: daily lift tickets & passes, rental equipment, ski & snowboard lesson programs, children’s offerings & tubing and help guide our guests toward offerings that best fit their needs.
  • This position requires a detail-oriented person.

  • Prepare food promptly and efficiently in accordance with instructions given by the Supervisor and established production standards and time constraints

  • Food presentation- Service lines are kept spotless and containers changed regularly as needed.  Food selections should always be well stocked and appropriately garnished

  • Guest service is prompt, friendly and efficient.  Guests should be politely greeted and asked how they may be helped

  • Work safely to prevent injury by proper use of knives and other kitchen tools

  • Work and service areas are kept clean and uncluttered, especially walk-in coolers.  Proper storage and rotation of food is mandatory to insure freshness and avoid waste.  Left over products must be properly labeled with name and date and stored in appropriate area of cooler or kitchen.

PURPOSE OF POSITION 

Be an integral member of a friendly, outgoing crew -- join the Rental Shop team.   You’ll become a certified Rossignol ski technician and get to test out the latest skis by taking frequent ski breaks.  You’ll also have an opportunity to learn top-notch tuning techniques from an expert staff while getting familiar with the overall operation.  The position involves on-going guest contact by helping them get outfitted with ski rental equipment and explaining its safe use, as well as collecting/restocking returned equipment and testing/maintaining all equipment.

Our Ski Patrol Director is interested in hearing from qualified applicants. Please note that  96% of Ski Butternut's Ski Patrol positions are volunteer positions and there are no vacancies for paid positions at this time. If you are already a member of the NSP (National Ski Patrol) or are working for another mountain Ski Patrol and are looking to transfer in please contact patrol directly to set up a meeting. If you are interested in going through the training required to become a Ski Patroller please call the Patrol Director directly to inquire when the next class will be offered. Or send an email to: [email protected] our patrol director works at Ski Butternut during the ski season (November through April), and is not here on a daily basis the rest of the year although he does check email weekly. Job Duties:

  • Assign students into appropriate age and development groups.
  • Responsible for on-hill setup and takedown of race training equipment.
  • Responsible for ensuring athlete safety through best practice course design, setup, and management.
  • Be knowledgeable in the principles and application of alpine ski racing, and the ability to demonstrate and communicate that knowledge clearly and positively.
  • Be professional and knowledgeable in all aspects of Ski Butternut, including food and beverage, trails and lifts.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to Ski at an Expert Level with effective skiing techniques.
  • Prior alpine racing experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with Management and staff, as well as students and their families.
  • Prior Alpine race experience preferred but not necessary.
  • USSA Level 100 certification is preferred but not required. 
  • We are looking for enthusiastic and outgoing applicants who are well groomed and in proper uniform including, jacket and name tag.
  • The ideal candidate will be punctual and adhere to a set schedule.

Job Summary:

A ticket checker ensures that every skier or snowboarder has a valid day ticket or season pass before boarding a lift. On busy days, ticket checkers are also responsible for grouping people together to keep lift lines moving efficiently.

 

Essential Functions:

1. Check to ensure every skier or snowboarder has a valid day ticket or season pass each time before boarding the lift

2. Answer guest questions by being familiar with mountain's layout, products, services and current conditions or by asking someone who can answer the guest's question

3. Identify fraudulent or counterfeit ticket use

4. Communicate safety procedures and rules for riding the lifts to the customers as necessary

5. Handle upset guests in a friendly and courteous manner

6. Organize passengers into groups of 2 or 4 (depending on lift) to fill chairs and move lift lines efficiently

7. Maintain lift maze area, including shoveling and raking as necessary

 

Other Functions:

1. Implement emergency procedures, including contacting Ski Patrol

2. Assist in evacuation of a disabled lift

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Provide ski and snowboard tuning, binding mounting/adjustment and repair services to guests.

•Ensure that all equipment functions are explained clearly to customers to ensure understanding and safe operation.

•Complete all required documentation. Obtain all required waivers or signatures from customers.

•Ensure that workspace and equipment are regularly cleaned and maintained.

•Regular attendance and punctuality.

PURPOSE OF POSITION
This position is responsible for general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of buildings and grounds. JOB DUTIES

•Perform tasks including painting, cleaning facilities, and managing maintenance repairs.
•Perform repairs on company buildings, machinery, equipment, or appliances. Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs.
•Regularly check community spaces to identify issues with litter, mechanical failure, or breakdowns. Oversee trash containers on the company premises.
•Maintain the cleanliness of outside spaces such as parking lots and sidewalks. Provide janitorial/sanitary services in our restrooms. Provide lawn care/landscaping services in our outdoor areas.
